In the historical atmosphere of Markiz, :mentalKLINIK creates a timeless microclimate, opening space for contemporary encounters. AWFULLY MARVELOUS celebrates an ending in the name of a new beginning, inviting the audience into an imaginary time where the unexperienced can be experienced.
AWFULLY MARVELOUS brings together :mentalKLINIK’s darkly humorous artistic approach with Tuğana Okan Nalçacı’s (Cutie Cake Co) delicious interventions. Breaking away from traditional presentation aesthetics, this far-from-ideal celebration cake invites visitors to challenge the absolute dominance of visuality.
Their sound installation Phantom Sparks, created in collaboration with Orkun Şentürk, reshapes gossip, rumors, contemporary debates, and social rituals, echoing through Markiz against the wheezing backdrop of the attention economy. Adding another sensory layer to this experience, :mentalKLINIK presents Awfully Witty, a scent installation inspired by champagne and pop rocks, continuing their olfactory series and deepening this multisensory journey.
Transforming our concrete, urban lives into a celebration cake, AWFULLY MARVELOUS pulls the viewer into an after party state, a space where perfection gradually unravels, leaving them suspended between melancholy and hollow happiness.
