JOHAN CRETEN'S "WHY DOES STRANGE FRUIT ALWAYS LOOKS SO SWEET" IS AT SWEDISH HERITAGE MUSEUM

One of the iconic works of PILEVNELI artist Johan Creten, "Why Does Strange Fruit Always Looks So Sweet" is on display at the Swedish Pilane Heritage Museum. The work, which will be exhibited outdoors, reveals the integration of nature and art.

While living in the Mexican desert, in the Nuevo Léon region, to work with local artisans, Johan Creten fall sick because he overworked. As he watches the fruits outside from where he lies, the image of the fruit and the infected glands got mixed in his mind, causing him to hallucinate. Inspired by this experience, Johan Creten, produces multiple versions of his sculpture "Why Does Strange Fruit Always Looks So Sweet?", both with glazed ceramic and bronze.

The work has previously been exhibited in many prestigious art institutions such as Salon Perrotin Matignon, CRAC, Villa Datris, Jardin Exotique de Monaco.
