Refik Anadol’s 1/1 dynamic NFT titled “Casa Batlló: Living Architecture” was auctioned in a 21st Century Evening Sale at Christie’s New York on May 10, 2022. The bidding resulted with a sale for 1 million 380 thousand US dollars.
Significant for being the first time a UNESCO world heritage site being part of an NFT, Refik Anadol, for the installation of “Casa Batlló: Living Architecture”, Refik Anadol utilizes the climate data and weather journal of the city of Barcelona, mapping the original work on the façade of Casa Batlló. The work is simultaneously being exhibited at Casa Batlló in Barcelona as of May 7, 2022. 10% of the proceeds from the auction sale are donated to the Associació Aprenem Autisme and Fundació Adana.
Refik Anadol’s 1/1 NFT immersive room installation “Machine Hallucinations - Space: Metaverse” was previously sold for 2 million 330 thousand US dollars at Sotheby’s Hong Kong in October 2021. A month later, “Machine Hallucinations: Coral Dreams” data painting was auctioned during Art Basel Miami Beach as a collaboration of Faena Art and Aorist and was sold for 851 thousand US dollars, whereas the same month, “Machine Hallucinations - Nature Dreams: AI Data Sculpture” data painting was sold for 1 million 184 thousand US dollars on OpenSea. Finally at the 21st Century Evening Sale at Christie’s New York “Casa Batlló: Living Architecture” has reached 1 million 380 thousand US dollars (including commission and taxes).
