Johan Creten, one of the artists from PILEVNELI, is carrying out an exhibition with Almine Rech Gallery at Roubaix La Piscine Museum. For this exhibition, in addition to two symbolic works from his career, C'est dans ma nature (2001) and De Vleermuis (2015-2019), the artist creates a monumental fountain in the shape of a bat and adorns it with seventeen unusual ceramic animal figures. The artist does not aim to create a still life work here, on the contrary, he states that everything is alive, pulsating and vibrating. The false naive monsters he creates describe the political essence of a world of conflict, struggle, and surrender, as well as joy, solace, and hope. The exhibition named Bestiarium can be visited between 12 March – 29 May 2022.
