Born on September 16, 1985 in Izmir, Tarık Töre graduated from Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts with a degree in Painting in 2013. The artist, who took continued education classes in 2014 at the School of Visual Arts New York, same year started his master’s degree in Painting at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University from which he graduated in 2019. By using symbols of pop culture and fragments/scenes of art history in his works, the artist searches for the structure of the mind and collective memory. For him, painting is a ground where images from memories are emptied at times spontaneously, at others fictionally. Therefore, his compositions which are constituted of images that come together in a surreal fashion represent both his and his era’s memory. The chaotic composition of Töre’s paintings that remind a scribble or a graffiti wall, while playing with the spectators’ perception of time and space also open the door from the personal towards the universal.
The artist who is in a close relationship with music was one of the members of the punk music group, Kilink formed in 2003. With time Kilink evolved into Palmiyeler which has a formidable audience today.
The artist, who still is the bass guitarist of Palmiyeler, lives and works in Istanbul.
